MÜNİR NURETTİN SELÇUK

Münir Nurettin Selçuk was born in 1899 in Istanbul. Even as a child, he attracted attention with his beautiful voice. In 1915 he entered the Dârü'l- Feyz-i Mûsikî Society; in 1917, the Dârü'l-Elhân (Conservatory). In 1923 he entered the Palace Military Band with the rank of lieutenant. In Paris, where he went in 1927, he took lessons in voice and piano. With over one hundred compositions, each one of its own special value and spanning across various forms, he was a great composer and a the greatest vocalist of the last century, who would become an example to generations to follow.
