FERRUH ARSUNAR

Born in Istanbul in 1908. A graduate of the Eastern and Western music departments of the Darü'l Elhan (Istanbul Conservatory), he collected over 1000 pieces in the collection efforts carried out by Municipal Conservatory from 1926-1929. He later conducted independent collection efforts, and published the notation of much of the material he collected. He died in 1965. Some of his published works include: Anadolu Halk Türkülerinden Örnekler (Examples of Turkish folk songs, 1946), Gaziantep Folkloru (Folklore of Gaziantep, 1962) and Türkten Türküler (Folk songs from the Turks,1963).
