BEYAZİT II

Bayezit II  (1447-1512)
The 8 th sultan of the empire, and son af Mehmed II (The Conqueror). He spent his princehood in Amasya and ascended to the throne in 1481. He was a poet, calligrapher and a lover of fine arts and sciences. He wrote poems under the pen-name of "Adni". Altough we know that Bayezid II  loved music and supported musical activities of the Ottoman Court, it cannot be definitely claimed that he was a composer. In old musical collections we find several composers whose names are all Bayezid, but all of these compositions cannot be attributed to Sultan Bayezid II.
