Avni Anil was born on April 23, 1928 in Istanbul's Selimiye district. Anil began composing music in the 1950s, and his first work, "Sordular Mecnuna Leyla'nin Saadethanesin," (They asked Mecnun of Leyla's home) was broadcast on Ankara Radio. His compositions were well-received and performed by many musicians of the time. Among contemporary composers, h is known for his original style.
