Þekip Ayhan Özýþýk was born in Ankara in 1932. He received his primary education in Ankara, and then moved to Istanbul, where he graduated from Haydarpaþa High School. Beginning his musical studies with violin, Özýþýk later took private ud lessons. Later on he enrolled at the Üsküdar Music Society. In 1958, he passed auditions at Ankara Radio, and was taken on as a performing artist, where played ud until 1966. He then came to Istanbul, where he continued playing both at the radio and at nightclubs. He died on April 17, 1981.
