REFİK FERSAN
 
Refik Fersan was born in Istanbul in 1893.  He worked at Istanbul Radio until 1937, transferring to Ankara Radio in 1938.  Later he entered the performing ensemble of the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory and served as head of the "Scholarly Committee."  His specialty was the tanbur; he was an important representative of the Tanburi Cemil school.  He composed nearly four hundred works.  He died in 1965.
