Ferit Sýdal was born in 1925 in Ankara. Along with his career as a tanbur player at Ankara Radio, he has served since 1956 as conductor for ensembles including the Women's, Men's and Classical choruses. Ferit Sýdal's involvement in composition began in 1951 with his first work, a saz semâisi in the þehnâz makam. He has composed over one hundred instrumental and vocal works.
