Fahri Kopuz was born in Istanbul in 1882. In 1908, along with some of his friends, and under the leadership of Ismail Hakki Bey, he formed the "Mûsikî-i Osmanî Cemiyeti" (Ottoman Music Society). In 1939, Kopuz began working where he went on to become a conductor. He composed a great number of instrumental and vocal works. He died in Ankara in 1968.
