Emin Ongan was born in 1906 in Edirne. He served for many years as the president of the Üsküdar Musical Society. He is notable for the degree to which he remains true to the traditional rules of composition in his works, and his expression and progression in makam is nearly flawless. His known works consist of three saz semâisi and nearly ninety þarký. He died in 1985.
