Born in Istanbul, Neriman Tüfekçi was one of the first members of Ankara Radio's Yurttan Sesler ensemble. She served TRT as an artist, teacher and director. From 1975 on she has served as one of the founding teaching staff of the ITU State Conservatory of Turkish Music. She is one of Turkey's foremost singers of regional music, and has made a great number of collections.
